Board of Open Schooling & Vocational Education
Empowering learners through inclusive, flexible, and technology-driven Open and Distance Learning — bridging educational gaps for a brighter tomorrow.
BOSVE is an autonomous educational body committed to extending Secondary and Senior Secondary education to diverse groups of learners across the country through a flexible, inclusive, and technology-driven system of Open and Distance Learning (ODL).
BOSVE primarily aims to cater to the educational needs of learners from deprived and disadvantaged sections of society, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, socially and educationally backward classes, and individuals from economically, culturally, and geographically marginalized backgrounds who are unable to pursue education through the formal schooling system.
The Board promotes an alternative and flexible system of education through a learner-centric approach, enabling self-paced learning with flexibility in terms of place, pace, and duration. BOSVE strives to create an enabling environment that fosters self-learning, confidence, and the holistic development of learners, empowering them to participate effectively in society.
In furtherance of its objectives, BOSVE works towards strengthening and expanding access to school education by identifying educational gaps and providing academic and professional support. The Board facilitates the establishment of Study Centres and academic support systems to reach learners who remain outside the ambit of conventional education.
To contribute to the universalisation of school education by providing inclusive, flexible, and quality learning opportunities for all, fostering sustainable development through a balanced integration of academic education and skill development, and promoting lifelong learning for personal development, employment, and livelihood.
